OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST:
Schools play a critical role in shaping students’ values and behaviors, but School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV) undermines the safety and educational outcomes of learners. SRGBV manifests as physical, sexual, and psychological violence, often rooted in gender norms and societal inequalities. Addressing SRGBV is crucial for fostering safe and inclusive educational environments.
In Pakistan, gender disparities in education remain a challenge, with SRGBV disproportionately affecting girls. Teachers often lack sufficient training and awareness to recognize or address SRGBV effectively. To bridge this gap, UNESCO seeks to hire a National Consultant to design and deliver a capacity-building training program for 35 teachers and teacher educators in Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK).
Objectives of the Assignment:
Capacity Building: Strengthen teachers’ understanding of SRGBV, its causes, and impacts.
Skill Development: Equip teachers with practical tools and strategies to prevent and address SRGBV.
Key Training Areas:
Understanding SRGBV: Definition, causes, and types.
Gender Norms and Stereotypes: Challenging discriminatory attitudes.
Identification and Prevention: Recognizing signs and implementing preventive measures.
Gender-Sensitive Pedagogy: Promoting inclusive teaching methods.
Safe School Environments: Building a culture of respect and safety.
Scope of the Assignment:
Develop Training Manual: A four-day comprehensive training program manual, including session plans, case studies, and interactive exercises.
Training Delivery: Conduct a participatory workshop for 35 participants, utilizing engaging methodologies.
Assessment and Reporting: Pre- and post-training assessments, gathering participant feedback, and preparing a final report.
